DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The main purpose of our department is to make sure that every child has a chance in our county to participate in some kind of athletic event. Nothing is no better for a person’s body than exercise as each of us know. Close to 600 children are taking advantage of this opportunity in our basketball program, 450 in baseball and softball, 100 in cheerleading, 150 in football, and 200 in soccer. Ages kindergarten through 8th grade participate, with some 9th and 10th graders in some sports.

Adults also have their share of the program. Fifteen softball teams and 10 basketball teams participate. It also takes adults to help run the program itself on a volunteer basis. We have 73 youth basketball coaches, 30 youth baseball and softball coaches, 8 football coaches, 8 cheerleading coaches and 20 soccer coaches. Each coach also has an assistant.

The department also makes sure that referees are available for all events, along with coordinators and scorekeepers.

If you would like to volunteer your services to the Recreation Department, it would be greatly appreciated. A lot of time is required, but it is for the betterment of the youth, even though the parents and grandparents thinks sometimes it is more for them!
