Mitchell County For Me Photo Gallery
Work has begun developing a permanent archive of photos from Mitchell County. We welcome you to visit our online photo archives. They are set up by topic and each image has been tagged with information about its subject, inlcuding location, who or what is in it, and other identifying characteristics. You are encouraged to download any images of interest to you from the archive.
We are also looking for submissions of images for the archive. In particular, we are looking for photos from the 1950s to the present. Please e-mail David Biddix (pegasus@pegasuscreations) if you have any images to submit. Please note that you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you forego any copyright claims on each image, and any individuals in the images who are alive will also have to give their permission to be included.
At the top of each page on our website is a link for "About Mitchell County." Mitchell County for Me. This new website, which can also be accessed at mitchell150.com, will feature stories, photos, audio, and video about Mitchell County's history, heritage, and culture. A photo archive with free downloadable images from around the county is also included.
In addition to Mitchell County for Me, Chris Hollifield has created a new website for Spruce Pine's history, heritage and culture at The Mineral City: The Heritage, History, and People of Spruce Pine, North Carolina. The site complements the Facebook group that has been active recently sharing photos and stories and it will serve as a permanent repository of information about The Mineral City.
Special thanks also goes to The Mitchell County Historical Society whose members are assisting with the development of these online resources.
